Drive-By Draws Q&A

  • During your appointment, you can expect a calm, professional, and respectful experience. The phlebotomist will:

    1. Verify your identity and confirm your lab orders

    2. Gently clean and prepare the draw site, usually the arm

    3. Use a sterile, single-use needle to collect your samples

    4. Clearly label and secure all specimens for accurate processing

    Most appointments are completed in 15 minutes or less, and we take care to make the experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

  • Some tests require fasting and your provider will indicate if fasting is necessary. Fasting appointments should be scheduled in the morning.

    Otherwise, for non-fasting blood draws, please stay hydrated with water prior to your appointment.

  • If you feel dizzy, faint, or uncomfortable during the blood draw, tell your phlebotomist immediately. They are trained to stop, assist you safely, and provide first aid if necessary.

  • Your health information is protected under HIPPA, the federal privacy law. We take multiple steps to keep your information safe, including:

    • Securing electronic records with passwords and encryption.

    • Keeping paper records locked and transported securely.

    • Limiting access to only authorized staff and laboratories.

    • Regularly training our ream on privacy and security procedures.

    We maintain strict policies to ensure your information stays confidential at all times.

  • Your doctor will receive the results from the lab. You can also access results if you log into the lab’s website and create an account.

    Drive-By Draws will never have access to your results.

  • We only share your information when sending your specimen and results to the laboratory you or your provider chooses.

    We never sell or use your information for marketing purposes, and any other sharing requires your written authorization.

  • Although we do have a 24-Hour Cancellation Policy, please notify us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel. This helps us accommodate other patients and ensures timely specimen collection.

  • Your results will be provided to you by your lab or primary provider’s office. Drive-By Draws does not have access to your lab results.
